  • Something smells weird after I drive my car...

As it said, but heres the detailed info...

Lets say I drive for 15 mins or more, when I stop and open the door, it smells like somethings burning, like rubber, or kinda how a glue gun smells when ur using it. I have no idea what it is, Im not driving hard or anything. I have a 2000 Manual V6 bird. Any help would be appreciated...

O and I have 80500 miles on it.

Ive changed the spark plugs and wires at around 75000, along with other small tune ups. Car has been fine up until about a week or 2 ago when this started. Theres no smoke, but it just smells.

Rubber burning? Check/replace the serpentine belt maybe?

If you drive really fast on a tire that isn't rated for that speed it will smell like that...

Hey Phoenix6, I have the same on my Firebird, a strange smell everytime I use it, even if I don't drive it hard. Mine is also a manual, but a 97 model with 83000 miles on it... Do you think it could be the belt?? I hope not, because it would cost to change it and I just bought the car.

Alot of people told me my car smelled like coolant but it turns out it was the smells of the paint baking off the headers. The smell is gone and so are the comments about it and the header paint.

All new exhaust parts smell when they are newly used.

Could be oil dripping onto the exhaust. Oil has many additives that can give a smell similar to rubber.

It could be oil dripping, I HOPE not. It could be my belt too, or the clutch.

No its not the tires, I drive the speed limits and Im not gunning it around everywhere. Ill change my belt and see if that helps, even tho I know its gonna smell when I replace it, brand new ones always smell, blah.

Last time this happened to me, the smell was a plastic bag that had gotten stuck under and near the catalylitic converter. For a few weeks the plastic would only melt at times.
