Does AC rob power even if not engaged? Or is it only when engaged?

just the resistance of the bearing which isn't much. The biggest parasitic drain on the engine is the power steering pump because it has no clutch. If it is taken off...Must I get the Delete Pulley or can I just get a shorter serp belt and reroute it bypassing the AC?Comment

A good amount of power is lost to the power steering, you can steer, it's very difficult.
