  • Does AC rob power?

Does AC rob power even if not engaged? Or is it only when engaged?

  • #2
100% when engaged. When not, depends on who you talk too, but it aint the lightest thing either......

just the resistance of the bearing which isn't much. The biggest parasitic drain on the engine is the power steering pump because it has no clutch. Other than that, it's just dead weight, so ditch it anyway.

If it is taken off...Must I get the Delete Pulley or can I just get a shorter serp belt and reroute it bypassing the AC?

shorter belt will work, mine was really tricky cause i don't have to worry about the water pump, and i couldn't find the belt size in any autozone type place around me

A good amount of power is lost to the power steering, you can steer, it's very difficult. I'm planning on getting a manual rack that has a better ratio so it's easier to steer.

i'll keep my power steering. 5 speed and no power steering pump does not sound like fun.
