Anybody know the best way to remove and replace a 3800 V6 in a 98 Camaro w/automatic trans??? I have heard from underneath with a special lift???
from the top like normal??? which is harder or easier??? Somebody please let me know...
I don' want to take my wheels to Chevy for this.

i was out looking today i was "sick " and didnt go to school.i think if u take out the radiator and all the stuff you might be able to do it.i think you can take just the engine out the top without much of a problem.then take the trans. out for under the car.getting them back in is a whole lot different. heres two good sites to see what your up against.hope this helps

I've seen pics of the engines taken out from up top, from underneath on a lift, and from underneath w/the car on jacks high enough to drop the front clip & turn engine sideways & dragged out from underneath.
Now if you had a third gen this wouldn't even be an issue ;)

on Horespower TV they are doing a "project LSGun" and they just took the entire front suspension/k-member wit h the engine and trans still on it out as a unit it looked like it would be the easiest option as long as you had some sort of a body lift
When I did mine, i removed the tranny and engine from the top without even having to take the hood off. It's really not that tight. You will obviously have to remove the radiator and AC condensor and most of the upper engine and then pull right out.

what exactly are you starting? LS1 swap? if so good luck and keep us updated. if you can get both engines in/out with-out a lift i think my dad would think a little more on letting me do it.

Hey everyone! I've been trying to remove my transmission for two days now! I need to replace the clutch. Only thing I've got left holding the transmission...
