I have a 97 firebird that sometimes will not start up, it just stutters. after waiting for a half-hour it starts. I changed a coil becouse it was not shooting a spark, i also changed the spark plugs and wires but still does the same thing. Also the other day I got in my car and notice the security light was on I tried to turn it on but it did not start it didnt even stutter. could this two problems be related. Can anyone out there help Id apreciated. thanks

The security light is caused by the chip in your key. Either the chip was wet, dirty, or the wiring is coming apart (kind of common). You can try cleaning the chip with an eraser to see if it helps. If the security light is on, the car is not gonna start.
The other time when the security light was off, did it just keep cranking? I'd use a spark tester to make sure all the plugs are firing, and check the fuel pressure.Matt
