Brief History: Car ran awesome, Put in CAI, awesome, had 8.8 accel 300+ ferro wires installed, awesome. 3 days later, wire burnt from laying on manifold. Fixed this. Now i have a, it feels like a misfire, bad, dead miss, but only after the car heats up. Today it backfired through the intake. Im looking at the Cat and Maybe the fuel system. But would like some advice on where to start looking or begin troubleshooting. Thanks in advance guys.

a backfire to me definitely says cat...especially since now you are taking in more air and improving your spark...yeah id start there 12 SECOND DUAL STAGE DRY NITROUS POWERED 98 A4 V6 CAMARO
www.MySickCamaro.50megs.com
Best ET: 12.82@103
Best MPH: 104.7
Best 60\': 1.75 - Stock TC

quote:
Originally posted by Shodown:
1DV6 runs 12\'s...enough said.

Thats what i thought, especially since you can stand behind the car and hear a metallic noise in the exhaust. I mean inside the exhaust pipes on both sides. Im guessing its a bad cat, but dont want to go just replacing things you know. Could the Cat cause a misfire, or loss of power with no codes being thrown.Pain Heals, Chicks dig Scars, and Glory is forever.
3 inch custom CAI, 8.8 Accel Spiro Fero wires, Bosch platinums, Flowmaster 80 series catback

it would show a code if you were gettin misfires...the cat would definitely explain a backfire...which as far as i know doesnt set a code either...and if the cat is clogging that will cause a loss in power especially when the new intake on...and it only happens when the car heats up...which is when i believe that cat really starts to go to work...if you got a backfire theres definitely some restriction somewhere...id just hollow the bastard out 12 SECOND DUAL STAGE DRY NITROUS POWERED 98 A4 V6 CAMARO
www.MySickCamaro.50megs.com
Best ET: 12.82@103
Best MPH: 104.7
Best 60\': 1.75 - Stock TC

quote:
Originally posted by Shodown:
1DV6 runs 12\'s...enough said.

make sure that you did not burn yet another wire. doube and then tripple check this. But the wire that you did burn could have fouled the plug.1996 Silver camaro Z28. ^^very true...forgot that...rule of thumb with misfires and replacing plugs is to always change the plug AND the wire 12 SECOND DUAL STAGE DRY NITROUS POWERED 98 A4 V6 CAMARO
www.MySickCamaro.50megs.com
Best ET: 12.82@103
Best MPH: 104.7
Best 60\': 1.75 - Stock TC

quote:
Originally posted by Shodown:
1DV6 runs 12\'s...enough said.

i never thought about that, good idea to atleast check the plug. But im thinking if its misfiring that bad because of the plug it surely would have thrown a code saying that cylinder was missing. Thats what is messing me up about this whole thing, i am getting no codes at all. about a month ago i got a throttle position sensor, and random misfires. I changed that wire, and cleared the PCM and nothing since. Thats what is making this so hard to trouble shoot.Pain Heals, Chicks dig Scars, and Glory is forever.
3 inch custom CAI, 8.8 Accel Spiro Fero wires, Bosch platinums, Flowmaster 80 series catback
