they quoted me for $275 to replace the plugs and wires, and i asked why it was so much and they said that it was $70 alone for the wires. BS!!! so say that i'll bring my own parts and they say no. so even though i dont know crap about my engine i will try to tackle it myself, i dont even know where the spark plugs and wires are!

are there any guides or anything that will help me?

It'll cost you $6.00 in plugs and $45 for good wires, 1 socket, 1 wrench, and probably about 2 hours of crawling around on your back under the car trying to find the best angle to get at each plug.
I didnt do mine with the log style manifolds, but with headers it took about 30 minutes. Follow the wires where they comeout of the coil packs to their location under the manifolds. Id suggest unhooking only 1 wire at a time to make it easier to get the correct new wire on the new plug.
Other than that, its just some time and tinkering and you'll figure it out.
It worked best for me to put the spark plug socket on the plug, then use an open ended wrench on the socket. wasnt enough room for a ratchet, even with swivels, extensions, etc.
Good luck!

You have to remember that shops double the cost of parts and make money there, as well as their labor. They dont like you bringing your own parts and cutting in on their profit.

$100.00 for an oil change? The filter is in the front of the engine, one of the easiest to get to ive ever seen. $10 for an EXPENSIVE filter and $15.00 worth of oil. Most Advance Auto stores will recycle used oil for you.

Not a hard job at all. Just do what ellik said and replace one wire and spark plug at a time.

For the 3.8's, the socket & ratchet fits great on all plugs except the two plugs towards the rear of the engine on the passenger side. The socket fits on them, but use an open-end wrench (on the hex side of the socket) to turn the spark plug. You will also have to access some of these plugs from under the car. It makes it alot easier to reach them.

your cardomain says you have a 95, is that the 3.4 or 3.8? if its the 3.4 you can change them in less than half an hour. and no crawling under the car. the 2 plugs behing the EGR valve on the passenger side are a bit tricky with the EGR valve in the way but it won't take long. if its the 3.8, then well, have fun under there lol

Buy a set of wires and change them one at a time, that way there is no way you can mess up. Just measure them up to the old ones and plug them in. It's that easy.

If spark plugs and filters scare you that much, stop going to the dealer and go to like Speedie or that just does tune-ups and oil changes.
But mike you're never going to learn unless you get your hands dirty. ;)

Oil is a ten minute job, and requires maybe $20 worth of parts to do it yourself ($5 for a Bosche filter, and about $13 for Valvoline Durablend). I also add Lucas heavy duty oil stabilizer http://www.lucasoil.com/products/dis...tid=2&loc=show everytime I change my oil. Before you change your plugs, I'd make sure you have a Haynes manual to help you with the project. Even if you feel fine doing it, it helps in case you forget which wire goes where, or anything else. Good luck man

Just pick up the phone and call around. The price for the plug and wire change sounds about average for a dealer. The oil change is a straight up rip off.
Go to an AC Delco store and you can pick up a set of wires for ~35 bucks and platinum plugs is somewhere around 3.99-5.99 a plug. I had my plugs changed out at the dealer here in the Bay Area and they charged me $150. I bought the wires and plugs from AC Delco. And yes I know how to change plug and wires, but taking plugs off this car is like taking an oil filter off a Miata
