  • help me with my AC!!!!

ok, my compressor doesnt come on, and i want to recharge it.

Someone said i need to bridge a connector and it will come on.

Where is this connector located? I heard it is either on the compressor, or on the line that you recharge it on, and guess what? There is a connector on both of them.

so, which one do i need to bridge? If it is the one connected to the compressor, how am i suppose to bridge it?????? The frikkin belts will chop my hands off!

I don't know much about A/C, but ff the system is low don't you just charge it up again? The compressor won't turn on if the pressure is too low, so I thought you command the A/C on and charge it up. The compressor will kick in as the pressure builds back up.

yes, but in order to charge it up, the compressor must be running. Exactly, the compressor wolnt come on if the charge is low.

It will charge if it low, when you put the bottle on the lines get planty of pressure to turn the low pressure switch on. Look around on the freon lines, you should see the low pressure switch, jump it out if you think you have to, and put a meter on that switch and make sure its closed. Switch might have went bad. Do you know where the freon leak is, 134a is expensive.

there are 2 different types of "freon" the expensive stuff is the R-12, and the stuff that goes in our cars is 134A, it is relatively cheap. You dont need a license for it.

i have no idea what you just said.

Also, there is no freon leak, it was never recharged when the lines were replaced

If the lines have been replaced you first have to pull a vaccum on the lines to remove all air, oxygen, and moisture before attempting to add freon.

Take it to a shop, They will hook it up to the mistery device that does everything that we really can't do without buying a few things that we will never really use again....Should cost you no less then a bill.

you cant and wont do it at your house for free.

The chemicals involved are too complex to even try it. Like bobby said...you need to remove EVERYTHING from the lines before you can add freon. which means all air, moisture, etc.

If you want to do it your self, you need an hvac type vacuum pump...about $250. Your going to need a set of gauges, to properly charge and view vacuum..about $45. A drum of freon...about $250. You cant use only the little cans, most of the cans are for toping off only, the contain more oil and a leak sealent and is not ment to be used to fully charge a system, besides you will need more then one can, and chances are if you are unexperianced you will be letting air into the system each time you change cans. When you pull the vacuum you want to pull off both the high and low sides, when vacuum is complete you add liqued freon to the high side. Start the compresser and add vaper to the low side till charging is complete.

Oh and the reason your compresser wont come on is because there is not freon in the lines. its the low pressure safty switch, the compresser will come one as soon as you put pressure in it. IF you have already put pressure in the lines and the compresser still wont come on, some thing else is also a problem. But dont put freon in the lines with out evacuating the system, it will not cool correctly and in a few weeks cause the freon to turn to acid and destroy your compresser, and contaminate your system. The only way to fix it then would be to replace every thing

yes, i already know this, which is why i want to jump the switch so the compressor turns on so i can recharge the system

And i hope you realise that our cars dont use "freon" anymore, and they quit a long long time ago. They use R134a, which isnt that expensive.
