  • 3.4 alternator braket???

    Ok,
I just tore my buddies Camaro down to the block to drill out a broken head bolt. It's all back together, and running great, but I can't figure out how the heck to get the stinking alternator bracket back on. I think one of the old head bolts was actually a stud, and the new ones aren't. Either way, the evil EGR Valve makes it hard to try to figure this out.

This is the best picture that I have of the alt bracket:

If anyone with a 3.4 could be kind enough to take a picture of theirs and either post it on here, or email me it @ pre813@yahoo.com , that would be awesome.
    thanks

unless camaros are put together a little diffrent the brackett does not connect to the EGR valve, it connects under it

Is it the L shaped bracket you mean that connects it from the EGR to the alternator? I never put mine back on the last time I took it off, those two bolts that actually hold the alternator down to the arm do a good job. It it not necessity to put it back on, but it's up to you.
      Good luck! :D

          Well, it's definitely evil.
And the alt gets loose after about 4 days of driving it. (The belt starts to sound like finger nails on a chalk board) so it's becoming a pain to stop and tighten then down every few days.
Plus I don't know much about trusting it on longer trips.

Thanks for the pic Andrew. I appreciate it. It gives me a better idea at least...but man is this a busy area to work in. It's harder than H#** to get a wrench down in there...... I think I see how it goes.

This is the bracket I was talking about, the little guy is on there.
