I am using the recharg system from the parts store. I have the first can hooked up to the line and it open and the ac is on with the car running. my question is how long does it take to drain the can? I have been out there 15 mineuts. my haynes manual says only disconnect when the can is empty. I have been shaking the can like it said to do on the can(not too hard, duh) but this is taking forever. is it suppose to take this long?

There is one. It says to wear cloth gloves and goggles whenever you're using it

are you using a gauge? or just the hose with the fittings?

The closer you get to the proper amount of refrigerant in the system, the less pressure difference there will be between the system and the can, so it will take longer and longer for the can to empty.

But you should be using a gauge to make sure the system has the right amount in it. Too much and you're asking for trouble.
