The speed limiter is hard to work around, but no, your car will not do 140. Stock, your car will only do about 120, and it would take quite a bit of upgrades to get it up to that speed. Sorry, the 118 limiter is close to your top speed.

P.S. ((I have my limiter off, and I do 120 even with my upgrades.))
Thats quite false - stock our cars are easily capable of 140-145mph - however that is about the limit for 200hp.
If you want the speed limiter disabled there are a few ways to go about it:
1) Unplug the VSS on the transmission. Doing this will make your speedo read 0mph, and you will be forced to drive by tach with a bright SES on - but you won't be speed limited.
2) Buy an SCU2000 from Jet. Your speedo will stop at 100mph, but you'll keep gaining speed.
3) Have the PCM reprogrammed. No more speed limiter, no problems. Costs $$$.

Well, I don't have a limiter and I can only top out n/a at 125 max.
Nitroused I've gone to 145 once.
Jet scu will not work, I tried it and I haven't heard anyone ese getting it to work.
Unplugging the vss works with manuals but on auto's you are stuck in 1st gear :(
pcm reprogrammed, superchips did mine but they seem to not be willing to assist others due to difficulty and time involved

confused now.... my speedometer seems to point directly at the middle of the 120 line. Not partially on it, but on the dead middle. So might my speed limiter actaully have been removed? When the speed limiter kicks in, could my needle still be at the 120 mark?

Do you have any aftermarket tires, wheels or gears. Sometimes our speedo's can be off a little bit specially at high speeds. I bet even though your speedo reads 120MPH you are still doing 118.
I smacked my speedometer and it removed the speed limiter. It just fell out. Now I can do 190mph easily. That must be the restriction in the car.
Seriously though, stock my car did ~133. I dont know how fast I was going with the new cat and exhaust, I stopped just because I still had W rated tires. I haven't had a chance with the new tires to try it.
P.S. - I removed it with the test HPP3 unit.
[edit] - Speeds were captured with an autotap.

No actually this wont work either. The ABS sensors still stop you @ 118. I tried it and @ first thought is worked and I just had a vibration. I then discovered I would drop a cylinder to slow me down.

god dam their has to be some way.
I'm spending stupid money on hp. upgrades.
I want to at least keep up with the older Z28 and TAs.
I need it after driving my dads 98 LS1 Z28.
I have z rated tiers and it appears now to be no reason to have them.
Nobody races 1/4mile hear.
Every wear I look I got rice, high speed rice. Tons of shops for them everywear ,and i have to get everything over the net and i can't even get over 120.
My budy has a 3000GT I smoke him up to 120 and then he creaps by toped out at 130 .

First don't post in every forum, it doesn't look good.
You are really hitting those speeds all the time???
Call superchips and ask them
Do a search on www.google.com and find the phone #

the only way i know of to eliminate the speed limiter is to get your pcm reprogramed which has already been stated above with a few others that might and might not work.
