  • Tech-1 tool for bleedin brakes?

    Has anyone bleed their own brakes on their car equipped with the abs and tcs? the haynes manual says that i need a tech-1 tool b4 i bleed the brakes and to not attempt to do it. that sounds so stupid to me. what do u need that tool for? I want to bleed em with out it. Hanyes says to take it to a qualified shop equipped w/ this tool. is this b/s or sould i live by it?

    Anyway, has anyone tried to bleed em on their newer or any f-bod?

      Just have a friend help you. No Tech1 or Tech2 needed!! It's the same as any F-body for at least 10 years now...un-screw the bleeder screw, push the peddle andhold, catch fluid, tghten screw, release peddle, repeat until done.

        Ok good. I didn't want to mess with em until i got some other word on it. I just changed out the rotors and pads and i haven't bled em. but i think she could use some fresh fluid, the current fluid is kinda dark and gloomy. so you have performed this with out the tool, is that right?

          Yes, I've changed my pads twice in my car's life all the way around, and no Tech tool is needed [img]smile.gif[/img]

                anyone use one of those on our cars? They work good?

                  its just a vacume tester. Almost any decent vacume testers that you buy will have that lil add on. All you do is push the plastic tube over the bleeder screw unscrew it slightly and pump away. Simple as pie.

                    I know that almost picked one up at harbor freight for like $28. Just wondering if it works fine to work on changing and swapping the fluid for the entire system.

                      If you don't have anyone to help you, it makes for a nice tool to have. Otherwise, it is easily done with the help of a friend.
