• How to remove Air Silencer?

I've heard this is a pretty cool intake mod.How do I do it.What do I pull out?

Is it even worth the effort?

The stock intake has a bunch of extra junk around it. Not exactly sure what the "silencer" is, but if you remove the stock intake and re-make it with an aftermarket one, there's a ton of extra plastic and etc that you can dump.

After the lid there is a big ugly plastic thing that rests behind the radiator before the throttle body, that's it. Take it out and put something in its place if you like. Or do the easy more expensive way and get a whole new lid.

Not sure what kind of car you have, but for 93-97 the silencer is located to the right of the air box. You just rip it out.

Yea I replaced mine with a peanut can...anything works. If you have a 98-02 you might want to cut out the baffles in the box lid too, every little bit helps.

well it helps to know what kinda car you have. for the 3.4 its the thing the airbox sorta hooks onto. it is wrapped around the frame part next to the radiator. i took this out, and cut away a lotta the airbox. now i hear a nice hiss that you usually get from an aftermarket intake. my friend thinks i have a turbo and its spoolin up what a loser!

                    3" pvc pipe = $2
                    aftermarket lid = $120
