was thinking of doing the sea foam route, but heard of people opening holes that were plugged by carbon and making it worse on them. I was thinking of just taking it to the shop and do it, but don't know what places do it and are respectable. Btw, I am about to hit 200K on the car.

I'm also intrested in this, my '95 is nearing 170k. And yes, the previous owner had a 45 mile commute, each way.

I bought it from a guy who travelled all the time on the highway, so he said almost all the miles were put on there. I bought it at 189K so I have only tached on a little ove the past year and a half

I seafoamed mine at 100K with no troubles whatsoever. But I can tell you it will dirty up your spark plugs and O2 sensors, so you might want to replace those after you change your oil and get the seafoam out.

Maximum safe mileage? The more miles you have, the more you need to do it. If you had real low mileage, it would be a waste of times since very little has built up inside the engine.

So would anyone suggest I take it to a shop instead of doing it myself. I have read the seafoam instructions quite a bit and understand how that works, just didn't know if a lot of people had a bad experience or what?

Only bad experiences I ever remotely heard was mixing it in with your crankcase oil.

never heard of a problem running it through the upper intake.

I suggest doing it and consider taking the TB off and cleaning it thouroughly.

does the TB come off by unscrewing some things, or is it more difficult. Instructions would be great. Thanks

i understand the concept of seafoaming but like what was said before, i was afraid that the more miles on an engine, the more places where leaks occur woul;d be plugged by carbon

throttle body comes off with 3 bolts i believe. I have done it numerous times, its a piece of cake. If you are gonna take it off, make sure you have a new throttle body gasket because it will most likely crack when you take the TB off.

And a towel to stuff under it to soak up the coolant that leaks out. And don't forget to fill up and bleed the cooling system when you're done. ;)
