The 3.8 has the advantage. The 3.8's have wicked top end pull on them. I have beatin 2 3.8's with my 3.4 but only by inches. They weren't F-body's though. It was a Monte and Bonneville. Keep in mind though i had myself and only me in the car while they 3 people. But I still love my 3.4, she tries for all she's worth.
I think Russell is an exception lol.

Nevertheless, a properly driven 3.8 M5 can pull 15.0-15.2 bone stock... you can see mine in the sig.
Im not saying the 3.4 is bad, its by all means a great engine, but the 3.8 isn't going to cost more and its much more powerful for the same $.

3.8: also, a properly driven 3.8 A4 (GP) can do stock 15.5 ;)
3.4: this is a good low buck engine swap, $210 :D

I ran my dad's 00 3.8L to a best of a 15.8 at the drag strip.
My dad still owes more on his 2k, then if I were to go out and buy my 3.4L and add all the current mods.[QB]

What mods do you have? I know you have a 5 speed.

I think that the 3.8s are a lot faster then 3.4

The 3.8's are alot faster but you can mod any car to be faster than another.

Eric... ok.. no offense but stop stating those track times man.. You either live in mile high city, or some place where the weather SUCKS!!!
In your normal average USA-Town area.. stock 3.8's with 3.42's can run 15.3's and dip into the 14's in good weather, BONE STOCK... with 3.08 gears they run 15.5's... 3.4's.. 16's+
3.8's are NIGHT AND DAY difference than the 3.4's
The big jumps go like this
3.4's (slow)
3.8 3.08 gears (not as slow)
3.8 3.42 gears (little zippy)
3.8 high gear/verter cars (oh yea!)
And for more info, just look at the timeslips page. 3.8 should be an easy choice.
I even recomend 3.8 engine swaps to those 3.4's that want to do heads/cam.. For the same price you can have a stock engine that will go faster than your modified 3.4

there is a swamp near by but depends on the time of year.
My 3.4L in the times I pull, ok say I am a freak, so we leave me out..
94grayv6 ran 16.5 with intake, and muffler, on 3.08s! in a 3.4L, they were installed when his rear got trashed, and shop installed them from another v6. He has an auto. A guy I met at SLp day, flowmaster muffler, ran 16.4s in eliminations with a 5-speed.
Gol101(I think thats his screename)
ran a 15.9-16.2 in his 96 or 97 3.8L firebird, cutout, intake, auto w/3.08s.
I forgot the other person's screename had a 97 3.8L 5-speed with full catback, CAI, 3.73s, 5-speed ran 15.5s.
Guy in my apartment complex. 99 5-speed, 3.73s, lsd, full catback, ram air, chip, driveshaft, ran 15 flats but managed a 14.9 once. (similar mods plus a few compared to me but only .4-.5 faster)
2 guys with 3.8Ls in one a firebird GT, other in a Camaro, one had 3.42s lsd, ran 15.4s with CAI, full catback, chip, CAI. Other guy ran 15.6s, full catback, CAI, all I remeber.
A girl in a 00 firebird(gold) auto, not sure of gears was running 16.4s, I told her some tricks she got it down to a 16.1, with a 2.3 60' which is normal in a car with 3.08s.
Predatorbird(3.4), I forgot his times(was busy racing a 3.8L), I only raced one night with him at the track and was entailed agianst the 3.8L(which I beat 3 for 3)
Joe Palermo, ran 14.0s, speed limiter kicking in before the end of the track, he had 99 Camaro, full exhasut, CAI, 3.73s, w/5-speed and lsd, Supercharger. He gave up on his car, and bought a v8 since at the time no speed limiter or other computer tuning for 98+ cars.
I managed a 15.8 with a 2000 3.8L 5-speed, 100% stock, I admit a 15.7 is doable, but that is a 5-speed w/3.23s, not an auto with 3.08s.
But like I said the average 3.8L(a4 w/3.08s) runs around 16 flats stock.
Not much going on, replaced my Kenwood double din stereo with a Pioneer double din, the Kenwood had problems. Then replaced my power inverter for my reverse...
Hi all new to the community here. I have a 2014 RS 6 speed manual... and so about a year ago my tail lights got cracked and eventually the plastic housing...
