  • Reason For Temp. SES Light?

ok guys, this was kinda stumping me.

Yesterday I drove about 50 miles on average going 100mph on the highway. When I got to my destination, I left the car parked at the gym there and we went in and played in the tournament for about an hour. After that I drove another 50 miles some highway, some town driving.

All the gauges were fine and everything, nothingi strange.

I was on my way home (about 110 miles going around 90-100mph on the highway) I got a SES light (about 7 miles from home). When I got home, I popped the hood and looked around for anything strange. There wasn't anything out of place or smelling bad or anything like that.

The SES light stayed on for awhile. I turned off the car briefly, then restarted it to see if it would turn off, but it didn't. The second time I turned ofof the car last night, the light stayed on, but after going about a mile, it turned off.

I'm wondering what might have been the cause for this.

the car didn't smell or anything.
    gauges were normal
    temp gauge wasn't high
oil gauge was where it was supposed to be
battery gauge was where it always is at.

Perhaps it was the gas cap code?
Did you get gas recently or was your cap loose at all?

I know that causes the light and is temporary.

i'm not quite sure if it was that. I did put gas before I went home, but i'm pretty sure that I made the gas cap click quite a few times (3 or more) because my gas cap comes all the way off unstead of just hanging there, so I have to make sure I put it back everytime.

car seems to be running fine however now. When I got home I did make sure to check the gas cap (to make sure it was there. lol).

any other codes that could just show up temporarily?

I got an SES for one full day after reprogramming with the HPP3. Then it went away...weird.
