heater core going bad?

I"m not totaly sure on this but I"m faily positive my heater core is going. A few weeks ago I noticed something leaking from my car whitch I later found out to be antifreeze. Its comming from the firewall on the passenger side. Its not comming from the hater hoses themself I'm 100% positive on that. It is leaking from the firewall just below the hoses. It looks to be a small box looking cover with two bolts on the right hand side, I'm sure there are probably 2 more on the other side but I just can't see them with out taking things apart. Its leaking from the bottom of that box looking cover. I didn't notice any coolant on the passenger side inside but there might be some now. I did a search and did find some info but nothing that mateched my systoms completely. Plz I need to get this fixed as fast as possible the leak is getting worse and worse by the day.

Yep...sounds like the heater core went. Either way, you're gonna hafta tear everything apart to find the source of the leak. Even if you DO find a hose leaking, if everythings apart, I'd replace the core anyways. You should also replace the hoses too. A little insurance goes a long way.


You should do this soon too before the core goes completely bad and leakes antifreeze all over your interior.

well I was going to replace all my heater and radiator hoses when I did my next radiator flush in about 4 or 5 monthes but then this started happening so I figured if its a hose might as well just replace them all if I"m doing one of them. But now that I bought all the hoses I just might as well replace all of them along with the core.

I started to smell anti freeze through the vents. Then ran car home. Dad said antifreeze in floorboard? I didnt notice it but raised up floor mat had about 3 oz. of anti freeze in floor board. Floor mat was hiding it. This shop replaced my heater core in 30minutes. Cost 98 bucks.
