• My car is running horrible under heavy throttle.

So I was driving home last sunday and noticed a very loud whine. About 5 minutes later I heard something hit the underside of my car very hard so I pull over to look under the hood to realize the pulley for the cerpentine belt underneath the alternator fell off! I drove home and took it to Pep Boys the next day and they replaced the belt and the pulley. I should mention that for the last 2 months I had my SLP CAI in and I took it out the day this happened but my car ran fine.

So here's the problem. I got my car back from Pep boys and noticed that it was running horrible. When I take off from first gear, it feel slike it misses a little at low RPM (righ below 2K) and if I give it more than 1/4 throttle, I feel the engine bogging, it sputters and the car barely accelerates. This will happen in any gear if I go WOT. So today I bought some Red Line injector cleaner and poored half a bottle in a long with a tank of 91 chevron and it honestly runs a hell of a lot better, but it's still occurring.

My question is, is it possible that my computer is still adjusting to the stock intake? THat's the only reason why I think my engine would bog down like this. Also, it seems to be getting a LITTLE better the more I drive so I feel the comp. might be adjusting more and more.

Any input will be greatly appreciated.

or a plugged cat
for testing of that cat, hit it with your fist or hammer, and listen for rattling
or dissconnect the flowmaster catback and inspeck with a flashlight and stick a large screwdriver in there and rattle away, just dont break anything

If it was exhaust related, wouldn't I be feeling it all of the time? I think it feels more like a missing cylinder. I think I just don't notice at high rpm because the engine is spinning so much faster.

Sounds like coils to me. That is common when a coil goes bad. I'd also check plugs and wires while you're at it. Start there. I doubt it's your new intake.

coils, wires, plugs, those are usually what cause that. when you go WOT you prolly hear it misfire (loud popping).

How much does it cost to check/replace coils?

My car feels the same way at WOT, but not all the time? i just changed the plugs and wires, i put taylor spiro pro wires and NGK tr55-IX plugs in, but that didn't seem to help, so im going replace my coils with the MSD coils next.

Hrm, so let me get this straight. You take a perfectly good running car to Pep Boys to replace a pulley and belt and get it back running like dog ****...

I know where I'd be headed right about now.

$20 bucks a pop for coils (x 3). install aint that hard oce you get the right tools to get in there and unscrew the 2-3 screws. dealership charges about a 100 buckaroos per coil .. damn bastards

$20 a coil? That's awesome. And FunkZ, trust me I drove it right back after I picked it up and left it there for 2 days and they couldn't find anything. They're idiots, if it the problem isn't throwing a code, they can't tell you what's wrong because they're all just kids right out of highschool. How much would labor be to install the new coils because I probably don't have the proper tools to change them.

Also, where can you get coils besides the dealership? Would Autozone have those?

Are they the regular voltage as the stockers? I'm selling my car and I don't want to get coils that will have a bigger spark. Thanks for the suggestion either way.
