For those of you who have purchased AutOptiks and are happy, great. I personally think they are not worth the money. I have a 94 Camaro so All I did was pull the lighting element (they slide right in and I used high temp RTF to seal it) out of a couple of old bulbs and replaced them with high output bulbs. I compared what I did with the AOs (I purchased them used) and the stock-mod actually had a much better lighting pattern. Now for bulbs. I started with PIAA and felt they were not bright enough so I put in the Sylvania High Outputs (not blue, but whiter and brighter than stock) and they worked very well. I put the PIAA in my wife's honda and they work well.

My next move is to put the same bulb in my driving lights (dremmel here we come) and replace the relay (so I don't catch on fire). Is this low-tech? yes. Is it more cost effective? Yes. Does it work? Much better than I thought it would.

If you have any questions or want advice, drop me an email at jsandler@excite.com

There's no point. Trust me on this one. THe sealed beams that came with your car are nothing more than a 9006 size bulb "plastic welded" to the back of the glass enclosure. Take two pliers and grab hold of the back of the enclosure and the back of the bulb and twist in opposite directions. The bulb will twist right out. Just clean around the edge of the hole a bit with a file and glue a xenon bulb to the back of the hole. It's watertight and the only cost is the cost of the bulb. I've had mine for about 3 years now with no problem and no extra money spent.

Sorry for repeating the above in my last post, but I agree

He's right, the only other thing is that the new bulbs won't connect to the stock connector. Not a biggie, but a quick run to the parts store will fix that.

Mine connected to the stock connetor just fine.
