I read on the Hypertech website that you can only use the programmer on one car because it "marries itself to the first car." So, what about if you sell it? A friend of mine has a programmer for his 94 Camaro Z28 and I was wondering if it would work on my 96 v6? (by the way, his is a 6-speed manual and mine is an auto, does that make a difference?)

The program would have to be removed before it's sold. Otherwise, the buyer just has a big plastic box.

Ok thanks, I didn't know that someting had to be installed, I thought all you did was plug something in. Oh well, I guess I will have to save a couple hundred so that I can buy my own.www.cardomain.com/id/hpn2003
SLP cold air intake, B&B cat-back exhaust w/ quad tips, SLP subframe connectors, Eibach lowering springs and Bilstein shocks, Hotchkis Panhard Rod, Hotchkis LCA\'s, Taylor Spiro Pro wires, 160* thermostat, Optima battery, white face gauges w/ carbon fiber trim, carbon fiber/chrome pedals, Avital alarm w/ DEI Remote Start

Well, you do plug it in, but it installs the program into the computer. When it does that, it retains your stock settings in the programmer. So you have to set your car back to stock before using it on another car.
It also has to be the same year and model car.

That sucks, I didn't know that. Would a jet performance or some other chip work? If not, where can I get mine reprogrammed?www.cardomain.com/id/hpn2003
SLP cold air intake, B&B cat-back exhaust w/ quad tips, SLP subframe connectors, Eibach lowering springs and Bilstein shocks, Hotchkis Panhard Rod, Hotchkis LCA\'s, Taylor Spiro Pro wires, 160* thermostat, Optima battery, white face gauges w/ carbon fiber trim, carbon fiber/chrome pedals, Avital alarm w/ DEI Remote Start
