Ya'll ever heard of a problem where like i'll be driving with my lights on and A/c on and radio on, and my voltage will like drop for a second then go back up? it only happens when my lights are on. Even if i turn everything else off, the voltage still drops and the lights dimm for a sec then they go back to normal for about 20 minutes. its been happening since i got the car... so i dunno...

It's part of the secondary AIR system. It takes air from the intake and pumps it into the exhaust upstream of the converter. Supposed to continue the combustion process of any fuel that didn't get burnt up in the cylinder. Ah nevermind, I think only the 3.4 and LT1 had them.
Does the charging system warning light come on when the voltage drops? How far does the voltage drop? no, no warning lights come on. it only drops to almost the bare mininum then charges right back up... only happens when the head lights are on..

My 95' does something similar to this only does it alot more when the engine and I suppose the alternator has had time to warm up due to engine bay heat. Mine will almost drop to the bare minumum just above the red and actually sometimes stay there but when the engine and everything is cold it stays well in the norm even though it does drop some. Ive always wondered what this could be. My only idea is that it could have to do with the alternator remote voltage sensing wire being in a bad spot but this is just one of my theories.1995 Arctic White Camaro. 3.4L/A4<br /><br />\"Stupid men make mistakes, wise men learn from mistakes\"

My car has the 'dip' since day 1 (brand new). The voltage drops from normal (about 13.5 - 14V) to battery voltage (12.6V +/-) for about a second or less and then recovers to normal immediately.
I am 99.9% sure it happens when the engine cooling fans turn on to high speed. I suspect that the voltage regulator on the alternator can't keep up with the sudden load addition.
I guess they use cheaper alternators in f-bodies compared to Cadillacs.
