      Cable Tire Chain

Around these parts, snow isn't the problem but ice is. I'm considering spending $35 for some of these cable tire chains for that bite that I need to get around on those one or two days of ice covered streets.

if it only snows by you once or twice a year you should be fine to drive on all season tires, unless in thoes 2 days you get over half a foot at once

Before this Camaro, i had two 3rd generation Z28s. More than an inch and i was not going anywhere. These cars were scary in the snow. I could not get traction for nothing. I even loaded up some weight in the back but it did not do much.
After my first winter with my 2000 Camaro i was impressed. I noticed a BIG difference. The ABS and ASR systems are wonderful.

like i said before, i drove my car in snow and ice and it was all good unless i was playing around :D

yeah, i drove last year once on all season tires, and witha fresh snow once i skidded halfway through a 4 way stop sign intersection.. abs was on but i just kept goin..

i did ok after that, just be very delicate with the gas pedal and give yourself plenty of room to stop...

funny, my worst losses of handling have come while it was raining, not snowing.. one time i gave it a little too much gas around a corner, fishtailed, overcorrected, ended up doing a 180 into the ditch.. luckily no damage, but that was right after i got the car, and this is my first RWD car.. i learned my lesson.. lol

anyway, i figured i'd get some snow tires this year, so i bought some used Michelin Arctic Alpin tires.. not really an agressive tread.. its a wierd design.. i hope they work ok..

they were only used for 1 winter btw

I would recommend buying a winter beater for a couple hundred bucks

I've been driving my 2000 Firebird through every Michigan winter since 2000 without much trouble. I even have the Goodyear Eagle GA stock tires on it.

It isn't really as bad as you would think. Just keep off it when the roads are bad and don't get too over confident. And be sure your tires actually have some tread left on them. If you do a LOT of driving then maybe get some cheap rims w/snow tires otherwise you'll be fine.

I am wondering the same thing about mine, this will be the first winter after my shocks and STB but it should be OK.

I heard it is supposed to be a "drier" winter than usual up here, I hope so...

look into some cooper weather master tires all the way around. They are cheeper then others yet work extreamly well. And like said as some weight to the *** end and just be carefull.
