A4 and M5 are just slang abbreviations.

The actual RPO code for the 5-speed manual T-5 transmission is the "M49"

And the 4L60-E Automatic 4-speed transmission code is the "M30"

Only M30 equipped Y87 cars came with 3.42's.
M49 equipped Y87 cars still got the same 3.23's as non Y87 M49 cars.

Y87 = 14:1 steering ratio (instead of regular 16:1) with autocross designed power steering cooler, Zexel-Torsen Limited Slip Differential, 3.42's (for M30 cars), and low restriction dual outlet muffler.

Sorry, No. Power steering coolers were only available on V8 WS6 and 1LE cars.

To all the neebies - this kind of information is in the Tech Database.

BTW, the Y87 package was NOT available in 94.

Yes, it's the Ram Air package for the TA.
WS6 is the actual RPO code and also became the name of the package.
                LT1's were done by SLP.
                LS1's were done by ASCD.
The Firehawk was the SLP package for the LS1.

                WS6 came with:
                17" wheels
                badging
                Ram Air Hood (functional)
                Raised Air Box
                Power steering cooler
                Low restriction exhaust (read: cat-back)
                "Specifically tuned suspension"

No, GM didn't actually make the "Firehawk", that was done by SLP.

GM only made the Trans-Am and Camaro SS.

Power steering cooler was not only available on the Trans-Am WS6...(goes without saying) also the SS Camaro.

Wasn't part of the performance steering on the Y87, that's my mistake. However I reccommend installing it none-the-less.

Y87 - signal given by us slow V6ers when we wanna say WhY 87 meaning why can I trap only 87mph

A4 - always 4...as in seems like it's always running on four cylinders

M5 - meaning we're dreaming about owning an BMW M5 on a topspeed run.
