  • distilled water in the antifreeze...?

I remember a while back as my shop teacher (i think Therefore i can't remeber) stated that when you drain the coolant and fill it, you should fill it with distilled water. along with the antifreeze. its the best and works better than water from the hose. no rusting and shazel.

but i must ask my fellow f-bod men, have you heard this and are my assumptions correct? im about the change the coolant so i would appreciate any comments and your knowledge of dis here subject. thank ya for your time.

you know what i never heard of that. but if you think about it, it does make sense. especially if you have hard water.

I have heard of this before. If you have hard water I would think you should use distilled water, if not the water out of the tap should be fine.

if you dont change your coolant for 100000+miles I can see tap water being a problem with calcium buildup and such other than that antifreeze will provide all the antirust protection you need. tap water works just fine.

Yes, tap is fine, but he said THE BEST. So distill water is the way to go. I believe they advertise something like 4 parts per million in a bottle of water. So it's pretty clean. :D
When I refill my tank, I use orange Prestone mixed with half bottled wattah!!
I've yet to drain and refill my system as changing the rear main seal forces you to do a coolant exchange and an oil change

if you use dexcool, you get enough nasty orange goo build up anyway, whats a little scale matter. :D

Yes, definitely use distilled water...it has less chemicals, etc.

When I flush/filled mine, i used a 75%/25% mix of water/dex. don't use pure antifreeze, it's inefficient and doesn't keep the car warm/cool as well as a good mixture does.
