• already leaking, switch to synthetic?

I read how some people said it would be bad to switch to synthetic with high miles, it will cause leaks. I have 85,000 on my car, and am considering Mobil 1. However I already have leaks right now with regular oil, would it be definite leaks with a synthetic?

i recently switched to synthetic 95FB 73k on the clock, havent seen any leakage, although i dunno why it would leak.
why dont you fix your leak and find out?
then we can all have some actual proof
I will take on all comers...or come on all takers!!! Whichever you prefer.

On my old 94 3.4L I had like 140K and I switched w/ no problems. W/ the other people it was probably coincidence.

Don't put synthetic in it unless you are trying to find the leak or blow your motor. Fix the leak before you do anything or just keep a few extra qts of oil with you if you are cheap.

just find the leak and if its easily accesible replace the gasket. if its not easy to get to consider taking it to a mechanic to replace it then if you want to, run synthetic. I love synthetic since you can go forever without changing your oil. 12K mile AMSOIL baby

The leak may be the infamous rear main seal.

I use Mobil 1 in all my cars and have been very happy with it.

I changed to Royal Purple 5w30 with my 91 camaro right around 138k miles. No leaks before, no leaks after.
