I have a 1994 bird with the 3.4L engine in it. When I turn the headlight switch to the parking light position, the lights pop up. When I turn them off, I hear a buzzing sound, that sounds like an air compressor (this i understand to be stripped gears, and have been to a website that suggests spinning the gear 180 deg.) The problem I have is why do the parking lights trigger the headlights to pop up. Another problem I have, is my rear driverside brake lights are dimmer than the passenger side... a LOT dimmer. When the parking lights are on, and the left flasher is applied, the two bulbs in the rear pulsate ( I am only talking about the rear driverside light bezzle) It has a total of 4 bulbs in it. (starting from right to left) I have the 194, which is just a parking light bulb, then I have the the other 2, which are brake/turn/parking light bulbs (these are the ones that pulsate) and then there is the back up light bulb. I have changed all the bulbs... twice, so I know it isnt a bulb. and I had to change my flasher too. What would be the cause of this problem.... is it the headlight switch, or is it something more costly. Thanks for any help

Hey i juz bought a 95' Bird not too long ago, and my headlight motor does the same thing. i've been told that most do. my buddies 96' does the same thing, only thing i've been told is replace it. Try a junk yard or the internet to find one i havn't gotten around to it yet. cant answer the other question though, cause i was wondering it too. Why do the headlights pop up with the parking lights???

I had seen that one already Swata... I tried the search feature first, and read every result that poped up, because I know as much as you do I hate reading repeat posts on here, so I figure maybe I can get a quick answer that way... It worked for the vibrating noise (the gears) but i'm still having trouble with the other two questions... Thanks for your quick responses ;)94 bird 3.4L Racing Green
80 series flowmaster
3 1/2\" Chrome tips
Deck, amp, sub, and upgraded speakers
Delphi XM
5 spoke 99 Trans Am Rims
Clear Corners
Sylvania Silverstar Lights

Just fixed that air compressor noise coming from the stripped gear in the headlight bezzle... thanks to Brent Franker. If anyone is experencing this problem go here. It worked AWESOME... the noise is gone, and best of all it cost me nothing... This also fixed the proplem of the parking lights coming on when i turned the switch to parking lights. The only problem I have left is that with the rear lights. --> See below

Actually.... it doesnt matter if i have the stereo or or not... it is weird. I was thinking the switch could be bad, when I was experencing the things mentioned above, but when I fixed the stripped gear, the brake light thing was the only thing left. It could be a loose wire, but even when I wiggle them the connection doesnt seem to change...
