  • EXCESS HEAT!!!! What's the deal?!?!?

Ok guys, I've encountered a little problem. (For a little background, I just installed my SLP CAI, Man Fan Switch, Change Plugs and Wires). I don't know why, but all of a sudden, my car has been giving off a LOT of heat. Like, it's a really good thing I installed a ManFanSwitch. It seems that my car is letting off excess heat to both the outside and inside of my car. While I'm driving, it's like my heater is turned on low-medium. Also, when I open the door, I get a big "whiff" of hot air. The only thing I can think of is the radiator, or that the SLP CAI is installed wrong and no cold air is getting in.

One of the guys who helped me install these things noticed that my radiator had a lot of larger debris in it when I took off the wisper lid and what not. And before that my Whisper Lid actuallyl was off of its brackets, exposing my air filter to larger debris. Could this be the cause, or....

Did I set up the SLP CAI wrong? You know how theres that plastic piece that runs along the bottom front of our car? (Scrapes everytime you pull up to close to a curb) Is that supposed to be cut off? Should I remove that rubber thing in front of the lid?

Final thought, I haven't really noticed a "rotten egg smell," but could my cat be getting ready to go? Or, something with the plugs/wires. I put lume on them, so.....

NOOO! Leave that on!!!! That is your airdam, and that forces cool air into the radiator at speeds at/above 30mph. BTW, they ALL scrape. First day I got my car I ran up into my driveway, scraped the airdam and almost sh*t my pants thinking it was the front nose of the car.
As for the SLP CAI, I cannot give any helpful info because I don't have thay style intake.

Yea, if that plastic airdam isnt on, get one quick. Notice the front end of our cars isnt open? That plastic piece is what gets air to the radiator.

I dont think the CAI would cause that. I had no problems with mine at all.

Oh, btw, if your driving, even with the vents on 'OFF', air comes through for some reason. Turn your temp control all the way to cold while you are moving.

Make sure, make sure, make sure you check your coolant in your RADIATOR, not the overflow tank. I had that problem last month, so i checked the radiator and it turned out that it was missing about 1/4 of coolant. I filled it up and the heat went away. ^_^ Make sure you fill it up all the way (till it touches the top).

i think what is causing this, is that since the manual fan switch is on, it is blowing heat towards the back of the car. Since your hood is closed the only place this heat can go, is underneath the car, to the sides aof the car, and maybe, just maybe, somehow into the inlet for the vents into your car. And like everyone says, you need that plastic peice on the front. The debris on the radiator is normal, if you want, take a hose or maybe a brush of some sorts and clean it off. If it gets extreme, and blocks alot of radiator air flow, then your car could run a little hotter. Good luck. ;)
