Flaring them is pretty easy with a kit though. You can rent them at Autozone. They are pretty cheap.

        Just a thought....

One way you could fix it would be to go to Autozone, find a straight line that has the correct flare fitting for the brake hose and then cut it so that it is only a few inches (4-6) long. Then, use a compression fitting (union) for that size tubing to reconnect it to the stock brake line and you're good to go.

Remember when you are cutting metal tubing like brake lines to use a tubing cutter so that you don't pinch the line shut.

A flare kit will smash the end of the line into a flare for you. If you measure how much line you need you could probally do it at autozone while your there. A hacksaw works for cutting the line pretty easy too. Its common sense, but make sure to put the right connector on your new line.

does anyone know what size line we have??? I think I can get a tube bender and bend the remainning tube to reach where the brakes go. So all I need to do is get the male fitting and flare the pipe. Josh, What exactlly is a compression fitting? I search on AZ's web site and couldn't find anything.

            Thanks for all the HELP!!!!

Here is a link to what a compression fitting looks like:
              http://www.naturalhandyman.com/iip/i.../i/shutoff.gif

The inlet tube would be your steel brake line, the compreesion nut goes on first, then the sleeve and then the union (compression seat in that pic). As you tighten the nut down, it compresses the sleeve onto the line and holds it in place. This eliminates the need for flaring.

AZ has them, they will not be on the website though. You will find them in the black storage bins behind the counter where the nuts, bolts, etc. are.

Ok well I bought a flaring kit today b/c it was like 10$ So I'm going to try flaring it. I nevr flared anything before so I'm assuming that I buy the right fitting, put it over the tube, flare the line, then i'm good to go???? I might consider the compression fitting if I'm feeling lucky.

Josh, when you say steel brake line do you mean the tube or my new braided lines????
