I was under the car yesterday and found a hole in this tube in front of the transmission fluid pan. Its not a full puncture, but its more like a chip of metal came off the tube. I pushed my fingernail into it and theres like some kind of black cloth in it. I was wondering if its a vent or something because I want to cover it up with some quik steel.

There is a transmission vent on the manuals, not sure about the automatics. And I would think it would have some kind os cloth in there as a cheap kind of filter, but I am not sure if this is what you are speaking of.
