  • oil pan drain thread stripped...

stripped the oil pan thread. will the 2.8l oil pan fit the 3.4? mechanic said if the drain hole was drilled and tapped, there wouldn't be enough metal left and it would break... is this true? it was a bs mechanic, he was doubtful of everything, no wonder he has no business. anyway he put a rubber plug in the crank, and i dont think it will last long. i need some help to figure out what to do, drill and tap, or get another oil pan. and how hard would it be to install the oil pan? would i have to remove anything first?

My car came with a self tapping plug in it. I threw in a "piggy-back" universal plug and it didnt break for a year and a half. Its like a dry wall hanger with a rubber seal on one side that tightens onto your oil pan. Ive found them at car quest and advance auto for around $10. I would recomend them and for only ten bucks fixing the oil pan is the least of my worries.
