I ordered the NGK Iridium TR5IX spark plugs from NOPI the other day and they came in gapped at .040. I know the stock gapping for our Firebirds is .060 so I tried to gap one of them and the tip of the node broke off. It's gapped at .060 now and the node is still there but the tiniest bit of the tip broke off. Is this gong to affect the performance of the spark plug? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for your time.

I guess due to experiences like yours, I've read somewhere [I think it was a spark plug manufacturer site] that iridium plugs should not be gapped by a DIY'er. Probably because of the fragility of the skinny little electrode.
I wouldn't put it in, not matching the others.\'00 f-bird 3.8 M5 coupe, pewter metallic
Torsen LSD, Pro 5.0 shifter, Spec stage 1 clutch, Y87 muffler, aftermarket stereo
-more fun than the Oldsmobile it replaced...
