  • did seafoam, mpg went to hell... ..help?

okay, i did the seafoam. my car ran real smooth, then gas mileage went to hell. took me a quarter tank to drive like hmm 30 miles? maybe less? Uhmmm, im taking a wild stab here, but im guessing i need a new fuel filter, and 02 sensors, huh? How much is the 02 sensor, how do i replace it, and do i need to have it replaced. Any other reccomendations. This gas mileage has only been a problem for about 2 days. (i did seafoam about 3 days ago?)

Those would be the first things I would check. Not positive on our cars but most of the time the o2 sensor is on the y pipe, should be able to change it out like a spark plug. I would change it first, because I'm sure it is covered with with carbon

well if your O2's are causing you to run rich and are now "bad" then you need to get them changed out quickly because if you are running that rich you will burn up your cat then you have even more problems..

from what I can see in the parts manual for the 3.4 you should have at least 2 O2's one on each manifold where the exhaust comes together just before the flange to connect to the Y pipe.. couldn't tell if you had any others closer to the cat like the 96-97 3.8's do..

I just changed one my 3.4's O2 sensors... Yes it takes 2 of the older 1 wire O2 sensors...... When i changed my spark plugs and wires... My gas milage went from 200 a tank to nearly 300 a tank..... Now i will see if there was any gain from changing out my STOCK O2 sensors on a camaro with 140k
