O.K I tried to follow the threads but just don't get it. My Y2k 'Bird comes stock with a 180 thermostat. I'd like to stay with the 180 but want the engine to run cooler than 210. Will the Jet chip install adjust the fan to do this by itself, or must I go to a 160 thermostat?
Thanks for the patience you show us newbies!

I don't think the jet chip will. You might want to get a manual fan switch.

Changing the thermostat will have no effect on when your fans turn on. It just changes the temp at which the thermostat opens allowing coolant to flow throughout the radiator. Like he said a manual fan switch will help you out the most. It allows you to turn the fans on low/high whenever you want. Use the Search and you will find more information and instructions for the manual fan switch
