  • Retained Accessory Power question

I have an alarm/keyless entry installed in my 97 Camaro and it works fine except for the Retained Accessory Power feature. The feature stops the power door unlock and trunk hatch release buttons within 10 minutes of turning the power off or 30 seconds after opening and closing a door.

This obviously poses a problem to my keyless entry because when the power door unlock switch is disabled, it is no longer keyless. Is there any way to bypass this so that my keyless entry will work?

Try this site. It has detailed instruction, reasons and pictures. Info you will need is about 2/3's the way down, starting at BCM.

If you set the alarm so that it doesn't autolock the doors when you drive it and unlock them when you go to get out, your feature will remain enabled. If its a GM "came with the car" system and its locking/unlocking the doors and causing this, you might can get it resolved. If its a non GM OEM unit, the only way around it is to disable the autolock feature on the alarm.

      Keyless should still always work.
