Nope, when you take off the wtare outlet housing, a little might try and spill out, but not bad at all. I did mine when the car was cool, so it may be a little (or alot) different when it's hot. Actually, I wouldn't even try it while hot, not only could you not touch anything on the car, you couldn't open the housing without a mess.

One quick recommendation. Get yourself a flat-articulated socket (not sure of the size). If you put an articulating arm on the socket it ill hit the intake before the bolt comes off.

i just read about a bujillion posts and it sounds like the 180 thermo replacement is worthless without the manual fan switch, right? i have a '97, that comes with a 195 deg thermo??
