After doing a search, I found the answer to one of my questions. I have a 96 3.8L Automatic with the 3.08 rear end. I found that traction control did not come on V6's until 99.
I do have a Traction Control light that I was wondering about though. It never comes on. Why doesn't it come on? Is the light just there for the V8's that have traction control, or is it supposed to come on or do something in my car as well?
1996 Polo Green Metallic Camaro:<br />SLP CAI, Carsound/Magnaflow 3\" in/out cat, Flowmaster 2.5\" cat-back... sounds great
Yep.
You also have a Low Coolant light that will never illuminate, as the 3.8's don't have the sensor.
Mind you, bearing in mind that all V8's would have the 150mph speedo, and no V6's with the 120 speedo would have TCS, i'm surprised that the light is on there. Unless TCS was an option on V6's. That might explain it's inclusion on that cluster.
Mind you, I have a LT1 Cluster on my car, ready for when I remove the top-end limiter.

Are you sure your not looking at the Low Traction light? I see that on a daily basis

I think it is possible that the TCS/Coolant lights are on most firebirds. Even though those functions are not present, it's just cheaper for the manufacturer to use the same dash componants/clusters in many models than it would be to make specific dash componants for specific models. I found this to be true for many products. Like car stereos, if you look close at the display, you might find function indicators on it that don't apply to that one, but might apply on the next model up.
Not sure about the late-90's and 2000's but on the earlier LT1's the 150 speedo was optional. You could buy a V8 with a 110 dash and a speed limiter because the base V8 came with the GSA's. If you got the optional Z-rated GSC's then the limiter was removed and you got the 150 dash.
So if 120 speedos were used in both V6 and V8 cars it would make sense that you will have indicator lights that are non-functional.
