  • How to remove belt tensioner assembly?

    Guys I need to know if anyone knows exactly what is needed to remove the belt tensioner assembly on a 3.8????? I'm here at work and need to borrow some tools from my buddy but don't have the car here and don't remember exactly what is needed.

    I had a few minutes to look at the car today and still can't figure out how the assembly comes off. I don't see any bolts for it besides the actually pully. I'm plan to actually fix this thing tomorrow but need to know how to remove this POS tensioner assembly.

      there is 3 bolts

      on of them is the bottom ALT bolt

      also your goign to need collent cause some is going to come out

        And hope you don't break those 2 coolant pipes into the front cover and lower intake.

          That's why I'm removing the assembly so I can change the 2 pipes.

                I went ahead and tried taking the tensioner off tonight and part of the tensioner broke off inside one of the holes to the left of the water pump. It wasn't one of the pipes either it was actually part of the tensioner just broke right off!! :mad: I still have to get the rest of the coolant pipe out from the intake but will have to buy the entire tensioner assembly now. Man that pi$$es me off! This is the second time something has broke off like that.
