  • How do I replace the tensioner pully?

I noticed the other day the pully was moving quite a bit and making a "creeking" noise, so how do I remove it?
    thanks for the help.

i just replaced mine.. unfortunatly its not just the pulley that can be replaced it is the whole assembley. The part from GM is about $95 (dealer) and from gmpartsdirect.com about $60 (if you can wait).. its a ***** to take off the old one but once you do just screw in the new one. The only problem i had was there is a little plastic elbow thingy that goes from the tensioner assembly into the block and aparently carries coolant. It was sealed to the old pully and i didnt know how to seal it to the new one so i tried silicon. well suffice it to say three days later its leaking. i dont know what im gonna do now. good luck

did you even buy a new pully or just use the old one and buy a new assembly?

If you have to replace the whole assembly, i know RKsport and most likely other companies have pullys that will give you more power, because the stock pullys have loss play. i havent done it myself but i am planning on it, and they dont cost very much.
