  • Does anyone else have or heard of this problem.

I have a 2000 camaro V6 M5 and when I am driving whenever I first start to move or shift gears while driving if I barely push on the gas pedal I hear a humming noise coming from outside the vehicle possibly in the rear of the car but I cannot locate it. But the sound goes away whenever I puch harder on the gas. This has been happening ever since I got the car from the factory. Could it possibly just be the fuel pump straining? I replaced the fuel filter and the humming noise is still there. Has anyone else had this problem? Any info on this issue will be appreciated.

have you checked the cat.? when plugged up they'll rattle, might even just be the shield around the cat

Mine has done this since day one as well.

All the dodges' ive ever been in also make that humming noise when you barely have it pushed down to maintain speed, and say you start going up hill and it still stays in overdrive.

i've inspected the cat. and that's not it. I know it's not the trans. because it's coming from the rear of the car. I've also checked the differential and eliminated it as well. I don't think that it has caused any problems besides annoying me.

exhaust leak maybe? if you could post a clip of the "humming sound" it'd be alot easier for us to help.

it's the gears, I'd be willing to be if you go down the highway with the cruise on about 60 or so you will notice it too, when you get on it they basically take all the slack out, but when you aren't under a real losd they aren't meshing perfectly, then when you get under a little more load the slack is taken out and they go back to being quiet, no biggie
