I need some upgrade suggestions. I have a custom CAI, custom dynomax exhaust. I am wanting to get 200hp out of my engine without having to get a custom computer or nitrous. I currently have headers and a jet computer module and SCU 2000 on my list but i'm not sure what cams or heads i can install without a total computer reprogram. when i get the ~200hp i desire i am wanting to put a 50hp shot of nitrous on the car. any ideas?

you will want limeted slip then and while ur doing that you could put 3.42 or 3.73 gears but that will only help ur rwhp and not at the fly wheel. i have a .206/.212 cam which is computer compatable. depending on how much you wanto spenk you can get ur heads, intake and tb ported and polished. just a few ideas.

Gears will not help your rwhp. They help with your gearing ratio to allow you to accelerate quicker. As for heads, I'd say get a good port and polish job done, or wait and see what the results stockv6 cam has with the super six pack. As for cams, I'd say look at getting a custom ground one for the most hp. I'd say nearly any heads and cam combo can go on and run without computer reprogramming, but to get the most out of them, some custom computer work would help greatly.

steal Tiagos rockers ;) .
Are you looking just for more power, or be able to use more of what you got? Upgrade suspension for your target driving habbits, and lighten the load. If yo have the $$$$ extrude hone your intakes/head combo.

Would a jet scu 2000 take the speed limiter off my car? I would love to have it gone. It would give me more incentive to work on this car instead of my already fast corvette.

I am looking to get 220-240hp w/out nitrous. Just out of curiosity, with my mods, what would you estimate my current hp? Anyone had trouble with what i would describe as a rotating clatter sound at 3000rpm+ ? It isnt valve chatter, but I can't think of what it is. Maybe its the heat shields on the exhaust manifolds rattling. I cant figure it out. Runs fine other than that.

heheh...i have 200 hp and a 3.4

edit: and all the parts are in stock condition the way they came from GM and the ECM is the stock ECM that came in the car when i bought it, with no programming.

right now, according to DD2K, I will have 278 flywheel horsepower with my setup which roughly calculates to 240 rwhp on my 3.4L V6. In order to pull that much power, I had to go with a huge cam, P&P heads and intakes, forged internals, modified upper intake manifold and quite a few other things. The stock power from a 3.4L V6 was 160 flywheel horsepower so getting to 240 is not a simple task. Good luck.

no no - it was a 3100 actually. same parts tho. i gotta switch the intake which (according to all the 3x00 guys) adds 10 hp. and so what. the aluminum heads are way better flow wise than the iron heads will ever be. comparing data to data the aluminum heads flow better than tiagos heads up top, and i still havent had them ported/polished.

the intake is also cooler looking and flows better too im sure. altho i don't know the volumes between the two.

and besides - im just doing what the older generations used to do. its called "hot rodding".

p.s. if anyone would like to do what i did to their 3.4 im more than happy to share with you the ideas that i came up with to get things to work. materials and parts is your problem tho :-p (maybe ill make kits - altho it looks like rite now that no one is interested..have i mentioned all the parts on my car are still stock and that the engine is still running the stock 3.4 cam and single bore 308cfm (3400) tb?)

I can't help you get 240 hp but I've got a Hypertech programmer that will add at least 6-7 rear wheel horsepower. Check my sig for dyno sheets. I don't think my car was pulling very strong that day either. My spark plugs were pretty nasty when I pulled them a few weeks ago. So I'd say the programmer has the ability to add around 10 rwhp on a well maintained 3.4.

It also removes the top speed limiter, firms up shift points, and turns the fans on at a lower temperature. It's like a four-in-one.

It's in the For Sale section here-->Hypertech Power Programmer
