I am wanting to check out how my engine is doing. I was going to doa compression test and I wanted to first doa vacuum test but I dont know how on a new car? can it be done without a scan tool? I looked but didnt find a fitting to connect a guage to? anything else that I could do to check out the condition of my engine? thanks.

All you have to do is disconnect a vacuum line that has vacuum all the time, and connect that line to your vacuum gauge. If you get vacuum at idle, that line should be good enough.2002 Silver Firebird A4
T-Tops, Leather, Y87, W68, Chrome Wheels
Bone Stock

used oil analysis by someplace like Blackstone Labs, maybe? It could show bearing wear, a fuel system problem, a head gasket leak, etc. before they become obvious [or so they say].\'00 f-bird 3.8 M5 coupe, pewter metallic
Torsen LSD, Pro 5.0 shifter, Spec stage 1 clutch, Y87 muffler, aftermarket stereo
-more fun than the Oldsmobile it replaced...

if you had ascces to a scanner that showed you live data you can figure engine vacuum using MAP sensor voltage.
but look for 19Hg of vacuum when your gauge is hooked to the intake at idle1996 Silver camaro Z28.
