Earning Respect

I just bought my 98 Firebird, my two buddies have a GTP and the other a Mustang GT, all I ever hear is sh*t from these guys. How much rwhp and/or how low will I have to get my 1/4 mile times to start earning some respect from these guys? In desperate need of some help, thanks

modding should be done for personal pleasure and gain. Yeah, we all want to beat everyone, but from what I'm reading, you just want to "install" as many mods possible and you want us to tell you how to do it.

Dont do that, read up on mods and how they can help, and in which way. Click on the Modifications Encyclopedia as well on the top of the page.

Basic mods
3.42 or 3.73 gears
Limited Slip Differential
Cam
1 piece driveshaft
New spark plugs, wires, coils
Whisper lid
Cold Air induction
Full catback exhaust
Headers
SUSPENSION
Pan Hard Rod

I'm sure there's more...but the biggest is Induction/Exhaust work, and then the LSD and Gears to start with first.

Tell your "friends" to take a hike. If you have to prove yourself to them, they're not friends. No matter how fast your car is, some people still will not respect it becuase it's a V6.

Dude u have an awesome car. If these kids r making fun of you cause ur car isn't "as fast" as theirs, then they sound like losers to me. Let them be fast like idiots and get a ticket. If a car is fast enough so that you enjoy driving it, why would you dump money into to make someone else happy? that just doesnt make sense.

You're in Kansas so I'm pretty sure you don't have to smog your car. If I were you I'd DEFINATELY look into Tiago's Turbo kit. At 7 psi you'll be blowing their doors off, with no other mods besides the turbo+intercooler and maybe an upgraded ignition and exhaust.
