WOW your car is fast! J/k

Removing limiter is done by a hypertech or custom progaramming, if there is another way I would also like to know.

If you want it removed but dont want to know how fast youre going, the VSS sensor can always be unplugged =)

would it work if you unplugged your speedo, then bought an aftermarket speedo and hooked that up? or would the limiter still kick in with the aftermarket one?

I believe you have to unplug it down by the tranmission, so it keeps the pcm from seeing the speed. If the aftermarket speedo could be plugged into the transmission, then it should work. If the aftermarket was tied into the under-dash wiring, then the transmission vss connector would have to be hooked back up, and then the pcm would see the speed again.

So you say it will work if you unplug that plug, well would there be any way to setup like a manual switch that you could activate and deactivate the speedo.

Good idea! I might look into this too...

Maybe even set it up so it could be switched to the extra speedo.

its not always the best idea to unplug wires that does something unless you are a risk taker

The VSS can be disconnected, without damaging anything else, I believe. I also believe though, it affects your odometer also. I don't know how that would affect the digital readout. On my moms camry, the VSS was bad and her speedo and odometer didn't work, that's all that was wrong.

Uhhh guys that little idea doesn't work because your ABS sensors still pick up your speed and cut you off or so I think when I unplugged mine I didn't get much speed but I will try it again sometime and figure it out. Also when you unplug the sensor your car thinks its in neutral and wont go over 4,500 rpms without hitting the rev limiter.

odometer not working??? why exactly is that a bad thing....??? if you ever go to sell the car the odometer wont have as many miles on it....my dad did that with an old jeep....and if it was on a switch you could leave it on till you hit your speed limiter.....where is this plug exactly?? and how many wires??

Hehe, I know for a fact that you can have a switch hooked up to it, it works great. However, it's main purpose is for defeating the digital odometer. I'm not going to say how I know this, just that it's not on my car. I don't know about the rev limiter, but I've seen this on a couple different cars now with no problems what so ever, GM cars of course. I also don't know about the abs thingy and the speed limiter, but if I remember correctly, I'm pretty sure I was going over the speed limiter in a car that had this switch, and it definately didn't cut off. Oh yeah, and just for reference, like rolling back the odometer, this is HIGHLY ILLEGAL.

Hey there, I had this done on my car a few weeks ago, and here is how it is. If you take your car to most basic repair and mechanic shops, they will be willing to reprogram the speed limiter for you. The guy did it for me for minimum costs, I think only 20. Even though I don't have any mods on yet, my car hit 120 very clearly, and on the downslope of the hill, it peaked over it. I would say 122 or so, since the wind and hill were with me. Anyway, just take it to a shop, and ask them. They may not do it, but mine did, and they did it cheap. Can't wait for the mods to take me over 120. ;)
