Well there's 3 coils, so if you replaced one it could be another. But more likely a plug or wire. Check your spark.

            The flashing indicates a misfire.
As they said before, there are 3 coils on top of the engine, near the firewall.
If only one was replaced, there's a good chance that one of the others is going bad. I've had 2 out of 3 go bad on my car.

Luckily, they only cost something like $20 each to replace.

When finding the other plugs, remember that the engine is essentially symmetrical. They are in the exact location of the ones you see, just on the opposite side of the engine. The exhaust manifolds, I believe, on pre-2000 models are in the way of the one side, which is why many people on the board here advocate reaching them from underneath the car.

If you are replacing the plugs, I would also replace the wires while you're doing it. For reliability purposes, I like to use OEM AC-Delco parts for plugs and wires. I used generic coil packs.

Usually, I would fix plugs, wires, coils [in that order], but my luck so far with my car has me guessing "coils" before anything else.

Well they are saying that i need new plugs and wires, because there is a missfire in #5, and they are going to charge me $180 just for labor, plus the parts, plus the 65 diagnostic fee! So im going to go pick it up.... any suggestions as to what i should do?

                      werd

you could buy all new, good plugs, wires, and coils and do it yourself in a couple hours for the same price if not cheaper than that.

take the coil packs off (its a b!tch) from the driver side next to firewall. replace them. take out the plugs 3 on this side of the engine and three from the other side (parallel) some of these are a b!tch too. replace them and the cables as well. a few hours if you have the tools and patience. saves u a lot of money as opposed to getting them done at the dealer ship. (they wanted to charge me a 150 per coil .. i was like F that. and did it my self ..

Replace the coils first and then do 1 wire and 1 plug at a time so won't get them mixed up. Do 1 bank at a time also.
