• Same problem, again...

Well... first, this is the 'background' to the problem. My car started to skip around 45k and this was just a little over a year and a half ago. The spark plugs and plug wires were changed at pretty much the same time, and the car ran fine. I could notice a difference in power but it was minimal. Well, around 55k (about a month ago), I changed the engine oil and the differential oil. The last thing I did was change the transmission fluid. This is when the problem started again.
Since then, I've put on new plug wires (pre-gapped) and, at first, it ran great - much, much smoother than it ever had before. But now (a month and ~500 miles later), it's starting to skip again. Does this mean I have to change my spark plugs again ( please say no :( ), I have bad plug wires, or could it be the coil-packs that are bad??

T.I.A.

Also :
I highly doubt it's a fuel problem (because it only skips under full acceleration or if the AC is on high), but somebody please help...

Sounds like the problem I've had twice in about 6 months. Would miss real bad at WOT and even worse with the AC on. Turned out to be bad plug wires both times. The dealer replaced them for free under the TSB for bad plug wires on 98s. Are you getting an SES light? If it's a bad plug wire, the code should tell you which one.

I change my engine oil on time (usually before 3000 miles). Where did you get engine oil from?

I rechecked the connections on the plug wires and they are all tight.
Any ideas?

It's your plug wires, I'm 99.99% sure it is. Our cars have this *****EN (read sarcasticaly) design when it comes to heat dissapation and the plug wires. Change the wires BUT when you do, wrap them with some high-temp sleeve like the stuff available from JC Whitney, here let me give you a link. This is the SAME stuff that sells for 100 bux/roll. Only difference is there is no NAME stamped on the material

http://www.jcwhitney.com/product.jht...=14815&BQ=jcw2

See what happens is the high heat breaks down the plug wire, FAST, and if it's laying on your manifold, even faster. You probably have cracks in the insulation of the wire and you can't see them.

Wrap the wires with this stuff, you won't have a heat problem again hopefully

another thing that you may check (I had this problem) is the connection from the wire to the coilpack, mine got water in it somehow and corroded, caused me a @#$t load of trouble till I cleaned it. Just a thought.

I second plug wires. I had to change mine twice within 3k miles due to burning them. When you change them again use zip ties or something to keep them away from anything hot. If you route them right they will last.
