wierd humming/whistle

ok... i am driving along going about 55mph, when i let off the gas and the car slows down, i can hear a wierd humming sound.

it whines pretty loud actually, but the strange part is, is that it doesnt happen all the time...maybe once a week.

ive had this problem for as long as i can remember..before any modding took place, it actually stopped for about a year after i got my exhaust put on..but now its back...anyone else with this problem? anyone know what it could be?

My car does that too, but it's a gear whine from when I changed my rear end gears from 3.42 to 4.1

Have you done anything like that?

i know what your talking about..i just change to 3.73's..but that whines when your hitting the gas at like 70mph..my problem is that i can be going 5 miles an hour and when i let of the gas i hear a whine??? wtf can this be? and also like i said, it doesnt happen all the time.

for example, i drove to work today i heard it, im at work now...drove it and didnt hear a dam,n thing?

i dunno...if someone can tell me that it is not harmful then that would be super duper [img]graemlins/fluffy.gif[/img]

It's more than likely the gear change. It might not do it all of the time, or you just might not notice it. Mine only does it when I'm in a negative acceleration, it could be that whoever installed your gears wasn't 100% precise on his/her measurements, thus creating the whine. BTW, the faster I am when I begin the negative acceleration the louder the whine is. Does this help any?


Did you hear the whine before you installed the gears - if so it could just be air flow in the block?

before any modding i heard the whine..but when i put my exhaust on last year it stopped , but now it is whining again.

picture your whine with the gears and amplify that twice...thats what mine sound like
