So I'm driving down the road, I come to a light where I'm turning right. There's a gas station right there on the corner, about 10 feet away from me. So I turn... I go to turn my wheel, and I can't. I press the gas, and nothing happens (well, almost nothing, I was just idling forward). I grab my wheel with both hands, and can barely turn it. It takes both hands and all of my strength just to turn the wheel to the right so I can turn, althewhile going 5 MPH. So I decide to roll into the gas station, which is also a repair station. I play it off, and coast into a gas receptical parking spot, still turning very slowly as my wheel is so difficult to turn it's ridiculous. So I stop. I look at my guages, and my oil pressure guage is down to 0. I turn my car off, and turn it back on, and it's fine, so I drive away, puzzled and scared of what it could've been. I have plenty of oil in my car. The only oil related problem I have is a leak. It's a pretty bad leak, but my oil pressure has stayed steady at about half for as long as I've had the car, so I've assumed it's alright. So I'm completely stumped. Why did my steering wheel lock up like that? Why did nothing happen when I pressed the gas? Why did the oil pressure guage suddenly drop to zero? I'm terrified that it'll happen again, even though all I had to do was restart the car, it might not be so easy next time. When I had the oil leak checked a while back the guy said it would cost like $250 to get it fixed because it's in a bad location that would have to be replaced. So that's my last option, but if I have to do it, I will, I just need as much help as possible in finding out what's wrong. Any help is appreciated, because I'm dead stumped.

dude your car died, when you turned into the station, you need to check out why that happened, that would explain all the things that happened is that your car wasn't running. so everything that happened, the steering wheel, no power steering cuz the car was off, no oil pressure cuz the car was off, no gas peddle cuz the car was off, so you need to see why it died, could be a clogged fuel filter, or some maintness stuff like that1997 Firebird Convertable White, with custom Purple pin striping and custom Purple detailing!!!
Y87 Performance Package W68 Apperance Package
Boydes, aluminum rims 16\" BMR STB
SLP Cold Air Intake 3\"hiflow cat 3\" dynomax custom catback, 2.5\" Flowmaster 80. But the thing is, I was still "rolling". Not just "rolling" from momentum, because I was at a dead start when the problem started. I was "rolling" meaning the kind of roll you get from an automatic when you're in drive and just let off of the break. I even had to roll up an incline to get in the gas station parking lot. Like I said, the problem started from a dead stop, so if the engine died, it wouldn't have kept that little bit of roll that comes from the engine still being "on". So I'm fairly confident that the engine was still running. It sounds weird, because the engine dying does explain the problems, but I just could've sworn I had a little "roll" power as opposed to "coasting" power... but I digress. Anyway, thanks for the info, I can only hope that it doesn't happen again.\"The Bird\" - \'95 Firebird (3.8), White
Suncoat Creations RamAir Predator hood with SC airbox, 30th Anniversary Ram Air-style stripes, Wings West W-Type ground effects, Last of the Breed Anniversary Emblems, Carsound High-Flow Cat, SLP Loudmouth Catback w/ 3.5\" slash-cut tips, and much more to come.

I agree with wolfy too, did you look at your tach when it happened?
It's very unlikely that those events all happened at the same time and are not related somehow. Only way they can be related is that the engine wasn't running. Even if the belt broke which would cause the steering problems, you would have still had oil pressure. It is possible they all happened coincidentally at the same time, but it's like a 0.01% chance that they are not related somehow.1995 Firebird 3.4L
My Site
