  • burning oil and performance question

it is a sad truth that i am burning oil, but my question is: is my performance supposed to be a whole second slower with such problem? would my mph suffer with such problem or is this much more than what i think it is? last time at the track i could only muster 88/89 mph with horrible ETs. much slower than stock and i even got an 83 mph. i added the headers and gutted the cat since my last visit, but my car is now smoking more than a cheech and chong movie.
when i get my seal? ring? whatever it is fixed, should i gain my lost sec. back and should my mph go back to the 90s?
or does it sound like i have more problems than boy-loving catholic priests?

    LMAO

nino you need to ditch that ****.

My buddy's 01 formula burned oil, and he still ran 12.8Xs with a lid, pulleys, and cutout before he got the new motor. Don't know if that helps or not, the cause of burning oil may be different on yours than his.

scott, i put too much into it to just throw it all away. i always said that when i blow my motor i would just do the V8 swap, but i never meant at 35,000 miles.

would a valve seal leak cause my trap speeds to be so poor?

Do a compression check Nino. That will tell you if its the rings..

If it IS the rings I'd point to your mechanic.. what did he F up? Your car would be the FIRST 3.8 that I know of to have ring issues.

            wurd

compression test to test rings. if it checks out, then Id investigate on the valve seals.

if it was leaking enough though the seals I see it fouling the plugs then yea it might kill your performance.
