• $450.00 for window motor assemby ?????

The driver side window is not working anymore. (I hear that sound coming under the dashboard when i try to use it like everybody else.)
Anyway, i took it to the dealer and they are charging me $450.00 to fix it. The say they need to change the whole assembly. is that a good price? They are waiting for me to call them back.
Thanks for your help.

so how much can I do that job for? Will I be saving a lot of money?
Thanks.

I know, I should have never taken the car to the dealer. I didn't expect it to be that expensive. I would have been happy to pay $250 the most, but $450 i thought it was crazy.

You can buy a motor new for $50 plus shipping and do it yourself, it's not a difficult job at all.

Not sure what you mean by noise under the dash. Never heard of that before. (I don't come in gen tech too much. )If you have time, you can take the motor out of the passenger side. Plug it into the driver's side to see if it works. If it does, you obviously just need a window motor. It is extremely common for them to fail. Grab a motor from your local auto parts store for like 50 bucks and install it using our link in the mod. ency. stereo section.

I changed out mine. $50 plus tax from autozone. The hardest part was screwing the bolts on from the inside after you swapped motors. The motor is held in with rivets, so you have to drill them out. It's a pita the first time, but not $450 worth

when you hear that sound under the dash it could mean that the plug for the window motor got unplugged,I would check that first and see.happened to me once when I changed another door

I just replaced my motor 4 days ago. A new motor only cost me 25 bucks from directauto on ebay. I went to http://shbox.com/page/windowmotor.html That site shows you how to replace it. Very easy to do.

Bought the window motor today at AutoZone for 60 bucks. (It has lifetime warranty.) I'll try to install it next weekend. Hope it's not that hard.
I wished I would have know this before I took my car to the dealer. I had to pay them 70 bucks just for the diagnosis.(which was obvious).
Still, I'll end up spending $130 to fix the window and not $450 like they wanted.
Thanks for the info guys.

Installed the window motor last saturday. It took me 3 hours and it was very easy to do. It's a good feeling to know that I saved myself $450.00.
Now windows are down and t-tops off.
Thanks again.

doing mine in a week or so..... my dealer only wanted $300. They wanted to pull it in and do diagnostics. I was like, "NO. The window motor is shot. how much to replace it?" then the guy asked me how I knew it was shot..... "maybe because it doesnt work anymore?"

as for the sound under the dash, it could be the automatic window relay (this is the part that once you tap the drivers side window lever, it automatically goes "up".)

mine went also as a result of the flood it was involved in.
