Ok this maybe be a really dumb question but humor me. Is there a reason why the passengers side of the floor pan is raised? It's just really annoying and unless something is housed under there why is that needed? I know our cars aren't built for comfort but is there a reason why this is that way?

Raised floor pan?

Seriously? Why would they place it under the passenger seat let alone raise the floor pan to do so? Isn't there a way they could have it there but lower it so the floor pan doesn't have to be raised or move it to the back without making it uncomfortable for the passenger?
Follow up: Could I move the cat. and just do a half-*** job pounding the pan down?

please stop.
chebby blazers have the pass floor raised also for the cat. The cat itself doesn't hit the floorboard, but you have the heatsheild there. Moving the cat from it's stock location, mainly for those who hae to deal w/it, becomes a "federal empire emissions" deal. Most shops that want to stay in bisiness wont alter/touch the location of a converter.1978 Formula 461 in progress of being built
